Northumberland Golf Courses

Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Course nestles in Embleton Bay near Alnwick and boasts to being one of the finest courses in the area. The holes challenge golfers of all skill levels and ages. Created by the great golf course architect, James Braid it is a traditional links course set amongst beautiful scenery on the Northumberland’s Heritage Coastline and you will enjoy a golf game which will stay with you forever.

The course is an 18 hole, 6298 yard, par 70. Founded in 1900 and updated in 1922, the clubhouse offers a comfortable and spacious area with separate restaurant, lounge/bar, toilets and changing rooms with shower facilities for golfers. There is a fully licensed restaurant which is open to both golfers and to those visiting Embleton Bay.

Seahouses Golf Course is one of the traditional Northumberland Golf Courses and it boasts two of the most prestigious par threes in the North of England. The 10th over a Loch that stretches from Tee to Green and the 15th over a cove with the Sea from Tee to Green.

Founded in 1913 as a 9 hole course upgraded in 1976 to 18 holes, the course has hosted many Northumberland Golf County competition events over the years.

Alnmouth Golf course is the fourth oldest course in England, established in 1869. The existing course was created in 1930 by the famous golf course architect H.S.Colt, providing an enjoyable and testing challenge by using his trademark steep slopes and run off areas to protect the greens. Although the course is on the coast it has parkland turf and an excellent reputation for the quality of its greens. 6525 yards long, par 71 for the men, 5752 yards, par 74 for the ladies. You can enjoy the wide variety of wildlife and wonderful scenery, ranging from seashore to headland, with a breathtaking, panoramic view from the 15th green over many miles of the Northumberland coastline. Visitors are welcome at Alnmouth and there are buggies for hire and first class practice facilities.

Bamburgh Castle Golf Club is open to all and the course setting has been described as the most beautiful in England and it presents great golf and a great day out. Bamburgh castle from which the golf club gets its name is probably the most identifiable landmark in northumberland. The course is set on an outcrop which has amazing views over the castle, the remarkable coastline, Farne Islands, Lindisfarne and the Cheviot Hills.

The course is shorter than some others, with 5,600 yards incorporating six Par 3 holes. The course is a Par 68 which can present many challenges such as the uphill 224 yards of the 6th, a Par 3 which has seen many a fine golfer drop shots. You have the opportunity to redeem your score on the final 3 holes, where there are good birdie opportunities, particularly on the two Par 4s of less than 300 yards.

Goswick Golf Links Golf has been played over the historic West Links course since the 17th century and the Club was formed in 1832. With breathtaking views of the Firth of Forth and islands of Bass Rock, Craigleith, Lamb and Fidra, as well as the town of North Berwick itself, there are few places better in the world to play golf! 6 of the holes are played with the sea in view and the beach is one long and sometimes wet hazard if the tide is in. You will find walls in the middle of fairways and in front of a green. All of these hazards are an important part of our history charting the development of the course
