Northumberland Dark Skies
Northumberland’s night skies are renowned as offering you one of the very best opportunities to see the stars and planets so often blotted out elsewhere due to light pollution in highly populated areas.
In 2013 Northumberland National Park was officially designated as a Dark Sky Park.
The kudos of becoming a Dark Sky Park helps ensure the area is kept free from light pollution and will stimulate more opportunities for people to enjoy the night sky. In 2015 Mains Cottages were awarded the ‘Dark Skies Friendly’ Award and you can view some fantastic night skies from the
cottage and along the Northumberland Coastline.
