Here we are in 2018, another year has flown past and what a great year 2017 turned out to be.

Saw us winning Gold and Silver awards for dog friendly business of the year and Silver for Self Catering provider of the year in Northumberland and the North East for 2 years running and we have submitted our applications for the National Awards for 2018.

We have met some wonderful people and pooches who have stayed with us and many are returning this year, some for the 4th year running.

Working with my brother, Stephen and my dad, Brian I have learned many skills such as laying flooring and Kitchen fitting when we replaced the kitchen in Shepherds Cottage – which I must say looks amazing.  We also re modernised The Bothy by repainting throughout, taking up all the carpets and laying flooring and adding some very nice leather chesterfields to give the Bothy more of a Captains cabin feel.  Stephen and I also tried our skills at Boat building but not to enable it to sail but as a seat to enjoy the wonderful sunsets at The Bothy.

On the Admin side we worked with Beach Design in Morpeth and created a fabulous logo which portrays the cottages perfectly as we are situated between Bamburgh Castle and Dunstanburgh Castle.  What was particularly nice about working with them was that Helen actually lived at Shepherds Cottage when she was younger so who better to get to design the logo.  I only found this out when I contacted her and started to explain where the cottages were in Beadnell – it’s a small world!

Following on from that through working with Arch and attending many of their wonderful training sessions throughout the year, I met Chris Best who is a photographer and he came and developed our wonderful virtual tours of the cottages which can be seen on our website or click below

At the end of November we tried our hands at tree felling and wood chipping and cleared part of the secret garden ready for our next project.

So – 2018 what do we have in store??

It’s been an amazing start to the New year with 20 weeks booked already at Shepherds Cottage and Benthall House for 2018 and 12 new bookings in this first week, with Christmas 2018 and New year 2019 already booked at Benthall.  There is still availability in the other properties so don’t miss out!

We have submitted application forms for Dog Friendly and Self Catering provider of the Year (National)

We have cleared the secret garden and are looking to add some form of Shepherds Hut/pod/Tiny House to allow for 1 or 2 night stays.

Stephen and Jon are attending a dry stone walling course so that we can maintain the walls around the properties.

Oh nearly forgot! we bought another boat to convert so will be looking for ideas for that and will have whatever we decided in place by the summer

Why not take a look at our cottages and get your next holiday planned
